LeRoy Powers Obituary

LeRoy Thomas "Tom" Powers, 88, of Auburn, NY passed away Sunday at
his home following a lengthy illness.
 Tom was born  May 24, 1935 in Cortland, NY a son of Seth & Murial
Alger Powers. He enlisted in the Army in 1955 and served until 1958.
Following his service in the Army he enlisted in the Navy where he
served as a SEAL from 1966-1968.  He was a Life Member of VietNam
Veterans of America Chapter #704 and a Life member of American Legion
Post #1324.
   Tom had several jobs in his life, working for Norwich Pharmaceutical Co. , as
a produce manager for A & P and Big M, as a construction foreman,
working with Habitat for
Humanity and as an independent logger/lumberjack.
    His hobbies and interests included being a SCUBA Diving
instructor; judo instructor; fishing, hunting & fast-pitch softball.
He was very dedicated to the Assembly of God Church and the Outreach
    Tom is survived by his wife-Charlene Durgan Evener Powers; 9
children-Mickey Centrone,
 Timothy(Suzanne) Powers, John Powers, Penny Schultz, Albert Powers,
Ta'Mara (Brandon) Seymour,
 Matthew & Mark (Jessica) Evener and Alexis Powers. His step-mother
Thelma Powers, a brother-
David (Sherry) Powers; 3 sisters-Joan Nadge, Sue Powers & Marsha (Vic)
Havran; 14 grandchildren,
5 great grandchildren.
   He was predeceased by his parents; siblings David, Joan, children
Mickey & Albert and 3 grandchildren-Emily
Miner, John Jay Powers Jr. and Caleb Reming.
   Funeral services will be held Saturday March 9, 2024 at 3:00 pm
at the New Hope Bible Fellowship, 2362 Oak Hill Rd., Moravia, NY.
Rev. Dale Weed will be officiating. Calling hours will be held from
1:00-3:00 pm prior to the funeral service.
      Spring interment will be in Fleming Rural Cemetery with Military
Honors. Memorial contributions may be made toThe Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society or POW-MIA Families.Org
     Funeral arrangements are with the Wade Funeral Home, Moravia.
