After retiring from SCM, he continued working full time as a carpenter

Larry was a dedicated husband, father, and friend. He loved hunting,

great story to tell! He enjoyed helping others, most anywhere he was
needed in the community: at his family's or friends’ homes and in the
church. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Locke &
Moravia where he served as a trustee, as well as a member of the
United Methodist Men's Club. Larry volunteered with the local boy
scout troops and as a SCAT Van driver for many years. Most recently he
resided at Millstream Court with his wife of 64 years Sharon Smith
Hilliard. Also surviving are his four children: Brian Hilliard
(Lorrie), Michael Hillard, Steven Hilliard (Brenda) and Bonnie
Ferguson (Mark), seven grandchildren; brothers David, Paul, and James
Hillard; sisters Helen Dwyer and Elsie Rose and several nieces &
nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Donald,
George, Charles, Robert, Thomas, and Raymond, and a sister Sarah
