Judith “Judy” L. White, 79, of Moravia, NY passed away unexpectedly on August 27, 2023. Born in Lansing, NY on December 24, 1943, to the late Edson Jacobs and Laura Marks Green, Judy attended Lansing High School and, in 1960 moved to Moravia when she married Douglas M. White Sr. Over 63 years of marriage, they built a full and happy life together.
Judy was a woman of many talents. A homemaker most of her adult life, she combined her artistic and culinary skills to create cakes for celebrations of all kinds. The kitchen of the family home was oftentimes full of freshly baked cakes and frosting of many colors; her chocolate cake recipe is a classic! During the 1970s and early 1980s, she worked at The Shopper in Moravia, and for several years after spent summers in Lansing, selling produce from the family farm. She was renowned for the sweet corn she sold and was known to her customers as simply “the Corn Lady”. Judy enjoyed gardening and was happy to share her vegetables and flowers with family and friends. She also assisted Doug on the family farm and managed their rental properties.
Most important to Judy was her family. She loved babies and had a natural ease that would bring calm to the fussiest of little ones. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world – she celebrated all their accomplishments and was never shy about sharing the immense joy and pride they brought to her life.
In addition to her husband Doug, Judy is survived by daughters Tammy Frendak (Todd) of Skaneateles, NY, and Amy Horner (Kevin) of Moravia, NY; grandchildren Rebecca White, Sarah Horner, Ashley Atwood, Jessica Murray, Martin White, Chelsea D’Agostino, and Jennifer Burke; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathy Dedrick. She was predeceased by a son, Douglas “Marty” White Jr., grandson Matthew Murray, and sister Betty Jacobs Masten.
A celebration of life will be held 11:00am Saturday, September 16 at the Christ United Methodist Church, 36 Church Street in Moravia, NY; time to be determined. Interment will be in Quaker Cemetery, Moravia. Friends wishing may contribute in her memory to Four Town First Aid Squad, Moravia, or Christ United Methodist Church.
Wade Funeral & Cremation Service of Moravia is assisting the family.
