Adam Urbanik Obituary

Adam T. "Sonny" Urbanic, 83, of Swartz Towers, Auburn, NY passed away St. Patrick's Day March 17, 2023. He was born August 4, 1939 to the late Adam & Frances Reczko Unbanik of Ontario, NY.   

    Adam was born in Ontario where he attended school. He met his first wife Janet Jones Urbanik and were married in 1959.  She passed away in 1999. They has a son Adam (Terry) Urbanik Jr., who now resides in Washington.  They lived in Ontario where Adam worked for Xerox for nearly 40 years.

    Adam frequently visited with his Uncle & Aunt Stanley & Helen Reczko in Williamston, NY on the farm in his teenage years.  In his later years the Reczkos had a camp in Osceola that Adam loved to go to for Gatherings & Rendezvous.  He enjoyed the outdoors, camping & hunting with his friends & family.  He was a proud fisherman and ran a charter on Lake Ontario. He did a lot of traveling and on one of his journeys through Fair Haven, NY a stop at a local bakery is where he met his current wife Nancy.  They continued traveling throughout the U.S. and completed a dream trip of Adams to visit Alaska.

  Adam was an avid NASCAR fan and was able to attend many races including Daytona.  He was a professional clown named Whiskers in his younger years.  While riding his Unicycle in parades, he would make balloon animals for the children. The huge smiles an the children's faces meant everything to Adam.  He also held events at local hospitals for children.

   Adam battled cancer numerous times, but most people wouldn't know it because of his love of life and joyful spirit.

   Adam is survived by his wife Nancy; stepchildren Tamara Haley of Auburn, Kim (Tim) Weir of Scipio, Matthew Parker of Oswego and Dannielle Parker of Fulton; a brother-Larry ( Eileen) Urbanik; sister Linda Urbanik; special sister-in-law Pattie Howard of Ontario and sister-in-law Doris Jones of Honeoye.

   Adam had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren-Charles & Marcia Paige Jr., Christopher & Heather Lindsley, Tiomothy & Becca Weir, Michael & Erica Poole, Kayla Miller, Kerri Ann Terrimiggi and numerous great grandchildren; also a niece Jill (Jody) Pagorek of Ontario.

    He was predeceased by his parents; siblings-Frank Urbanik, Sylvia Turner, Loretta Essler, daughter-Michelle Schultze, granddaughter-Elizabeth Richards & brother-in-law Norm Howard.

Private services will be held by the family at a later date.

It is their request for a tree to be planted in  Adams Memory or a contribution to St. Jude's Children's Hospital'
